FACE (OR IS THAT HEAD?) VALUE
Regarding this article…
The fast summary is, apparently the Akademics clothing line’s new
campaign promoting urban literacy is too racy for New York’s busses and
trains. The message- “Read books. Get brain.”
The first thing I have to say is, yes, the double-entendre is
intended. The second thing I have to say is, it’s not “get
brain,” it’s “get head.”
It’s not just “all over the music” nowadays, and frankly, it shouldn’t
even matter that sexual activity is backhandedly referenced, because
all people, from all walks of life, should want to be educated.
If a reference to oral sex gets people reading material of actual
substance, why complain? I’ve met plenty of people where such is
the only way you can get a reasonable response from them.
Learning to recognize entendres for what they are is an education in
and of itself, and I’m certainly no expert.
As a culture, it’s dangerous to condemn a people’s means of
communication and in the same breath, wonder why we find the same
Some people don’t want to be smart, but what’s
offensive is when people that don’t want to be smart don’t want other people to become smarter than they are.
Thanks for the comment.
Worked at the toy store down here a couple days, I go in for another
shift with them tonight… It’s pretty nice, a little bit laid
back compared to what I’m used to, but at the same time, I haven’t
worked in so long that it’s a bit tiring. I’ll be okay soon
The other job starts in two days.
I hope everything’s going okay with everybody.
See you next time.
